There is a flying tip and an acronym index at the bottom of the report for those not understanding some of the weather jargon. ;)

18 April 2026

Good morning all you super cool Wild2fly people! And another awesome day of flying around Wilderness. This place is paradise I tell you! ;) Sedge worked great until late with Walland Air newbies enjoying multiple top landings. And then Map also delivered some easy flights with Cloudbase newbies putting in those required flights! lol ;) And a few brave souls hiked up Vensterberg for an epic flight getting to 5500ft! Sweet! To our north Jonn Pio had a lekker out and return from the Dam to Brits and back. And then in Switzerland they had a cracker day with 28 flights over 200km and then on Xcontest 230 flights over 100km for the day! that’s quite something! ;) Sebastien did a 276flight but failed to close the triangle. This Daniel’s flight - a 246km Triangle taking almost 10hrs on his Zeno2. Nice pics here too. ;) is https://www.xcontest.org/world/en/flights/detail:bergerli/16.04.2026/07:46#fd=photos Back in SA that strong CF is into CT at this very moment with loads of rain and strong winds. Strong NW all over the southern interior with plenty of mountains wave action. I found this 6m/s monster at Mount Fletcher. (see pic below) but the waves are all over the southern parts of the country. ;) For Wilderness we are in between the trough system (just to our east) with the pushing CF from the west. It looks like we have a reprieve from the strong stuff for most of the day with some nice flying. Sedge seems to be good from 11 till 15:00 - the B/S ration goes a bit wonky before and after that. lol. Even a chance of some soaring on the coastal cliffs as the wind backs from SW to S before going back to the SW late in the day as the front gets to us. Looks like some rain in Wilderness around 17/18:00. So maybe another good one in Paradise. ;) Lekker! Low tide this morning at 9:25 and high tide at 15:38. Sunrise was at 6:54 and setting at 18:04. Daylight of 11 hrs and 10 min! Max temps today a cool 20 degrees C in Wilderness. Have a lekker one everybody and as always, remember also to take a moment and reflect on God. :) That’s really what life is all about. (John 10:10. Rom 10:9. Eph 4:31-32.)

Todays flying tip: Watch where you put down your harness - all kinds of goggos can creep into it! ;)
